POST TITLE: Research Technician

DURATION: Initial period of one year, with possibility of extension subject to
satisfactory performance and project duration
DUTY STATION: Trieste, Italy
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Project appointment entirely funded by the External Funds Project
“INTERREG V-A Italia-Slovenia 2014-2020, Bando 1/2016 ASSE 1 –
Priorità 1b” (internal ICGEB reference HQ/FVG/17/014)
DUTIES: Under the guidance and the supervision of the Group Leader of
Cardiovascular Biology, the Research Technician will be requested to
perform the following duties related to the implementation of the
INTERREG Italia – Slovenia funded project “Big data e modelli di
malattie: piattaforma transfrontaliera di kit validati per lʼindustria biotech
Be responsible for the storage of delicate experimental material such as cell lines, libraries digital
data, enzymes, antibodies animal strains;
• Establish and maintain cultures of primary cells;
• Develop and standardize cellular assays (proliferation, apoptosis, etc.);
• Update the existing technology in the fields of microsurgery, imaging and microscopy;
• Assist from the technical point of view new PhD students and postdoc at the beginning of their
fellowships in order to facilitate their insertion in the laboratory;
• Perform other work related duties as may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential: High school diploma.
Desirable: University Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or
related fields, previous experience in laboratory work, previous
experience in an international research organization, FELASA C/D
certification, experience with in vitro and in vivo models of human
diseases, experience in the use of imaging techniques.
